Japanese delegates attended the 1st International Conference of Social Work (Paris, France) |
1936 |
Japanese National Committee of the International Conference of Social Work was established as a private organization neither controlled nor protected by law. |
1958 |
The 9th International Conference of Social Work was held in Tokyo with approx. 1,500 participants from 42 countries and several international organizations. |

In 1966, the International Conference of Social Work changed its organizational name as the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) while the name of the conference itself was changed to the International Conference on Social Welfare. |
1969 |
Japanese National Committee of the International Conference of Social Work was dissolved, and a corporation with the name of Japanese Committee of the International Council on Social Welfare (JNC/ICSW) was newly established. |
1986 |
The 23rd International Conference on Social Welfare was held in Tokyo with approx. 2,500 participants from 82 countries and several international organizations. |
