On July 24, 2009, Japan National Council of Social Welfare (JNCSW) had a visit of participants of the Study Programme for the Senior Social Welfare Administrators 2009 organized by Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS).

The purpose of this program is the human development of social welfare administrators in developing countries (mainly ASEAN countries). This time, six (6) participants from five (5) countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Moldova, and Vietnam) visited JNCSW.

On behalf of JNCSW, Mr. Atsuo Shibuya, Director of Regional Welfare Division of JNCSW gave a lecture under the theme of　“Role and Function of Councils of Social Welfare.” He explained network of councils of social welfare, their legal grounds, activities of municipal councils of social welfare, etc.

In a Q & A session, enriched opinion exchange was seen about the relationship between Japanese government and councils of social welfare, and activities in councils of social welfare including support for volunteers, salon activities, etc.
