ICSW North East Asia Region Conference was held in Busan, Korea from October 22 to 24, 2007 hosted by the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
ICSW NEA Region consists of four (4) countries, i.e., Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Delegations from those four countries and Ms. Solveig Askjem, President of ICSW Global, participated in the conference. Among the 42 delegates in toto, 11 were from Japan including Ms. Ritsuko Nagao, President of JNC/ICSW.
On the second day of the conference, the seminar was held under the theme of “Issue and Challenges for Cultural Diversity in north East Asia,” and two (2) speakers from each country had the presentation on various challenges in the social welfare field such as migrant workers, international marriages, etc. followed by an active exchange of opinions.
On the third day, technical visit to social welfare institutions in Busan was conducted, and through the whole three (3)-days program, the relationship and friendship among all the participants were strengthened and deepened more and more.
