• Activities by Japan National Council of Social Welfare, Promoting International Exchange, Networking and Support

The secretariat of the Japanese National Committee of ICSW is located at Japan National Council of Social Welfare and the JNC/ICSW and the International Division of JNCSW work hand in hand to carry out various international activities.

Promoting Social Welfare in Asia

• Asian Social Welfare Workers’ Training Program
  JNCSW has been inviting social workers working at non-governmental organizations in the field of social welfare/development in Asian countries since 1984 to provide on-the-job trainings at social service institutions. The trainees will be provided with intensive Japanese language class before placed in social service institutions.
  As of April 2015, 152 workers from 8 countries (Bangladesh, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand) have completed the program.
  JNCSW also provides grants to social welfare/development programs planned and executed by ex-trainees in their home countries.
• Support Program in relation to Sumatran Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster
  After the Sumatran Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster, JNCSW fund raised among the social welfare related organizations/people to support disaster stricken areas. With the donation, JNCSW provided financial support to local non-governmental welfare organizations in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand for reconstruction and rehabilitation for 5 years, 2005-2010.
  
  Similar program for the disaster stricken area in the Philippines damaged by Typhoon Yolanda has been launched in 2014.
• Japan/Korea/Taiwan Conference of Non-Governmental Social Welfare Organizations (Trilateral Conference)
  Since 1996, Korea National Council on Social Welfare, ICSW Taiwan, and JNCSW has been organizing trilateral conference to promote mutual understanding and information exchange among people working in social welfare field. Conference has been held in turns and the 21st Conference is to be held in Korea in June, 2016.
